Box of 8 Vintage Penfold Patented Golf Balls c.1950

£250.00

A collection of 8 individually wrapped vintage Penfold Patented golf balls, manufactured by Golf Ball Developments Ltd. in Birmingham, England, circa 1950s, complete with the original "Multidentification" counter display box.

The "Card Suit" System - Penfold famously replaced traditional numbers with card suits (Hearts, Diamonds, Spades, Clubs) to help players identify their balls on the course. This became their signature, famously immortalized later in the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger, where 007 plays a "Penfold Hearts."

The "Multidentification" markings on the 8 balls being - 3x Hearts, 3x Diamonds, 1x No.4 and 1x Club/Spade/Diamond/Heart.

Box is in very good condition (some writing on the lid) and all 8 balls are in unused mint condition and still in their original unopened cellophane wrappers.
