Troon Golf Club: Its History from 1878 is a privately printed club history book written by Ian M. Mackintosh. First published in 1969 by the Committee of the Troon Golf Club, the work chronicles the creation, architectural adjustments, and early legacy of what would officially become the Royal Troon Golf Club in 1878.
Mackintosh explores the origin of the club from its initial meeting at the local Portland Arms Hotel, tracing its growth from an initial short layout designed by Charles Hunter (a protégé of Old Tom Morris) into an 18-hole championship course under George Strath and Willie Fernie.
