A circa 1890 Scare-Head (Spliced Head) Brassie - Compressed Head by WM Park - a highly collectible, antique, hickory-shafted wooden golf club from the late 19th century, produced by the renowned Scottish clubmaker William "Willie" Park Jr. in Musselburgh.
Maker: William Park Jr. (1864–1925), winner of the 1887 and 1889 Open Championships, who took over his father's business in 1884.
The "Compressed" Patent: Park received a patent for his "compressed" wooden clubs in 1894, though often produced slightly before or around this time.
A spliced head and hickory shaft (Scare-Head), leather face insert, brass sole plate and fitted with what looks to be the original suede grip. Whipping looks original and in good condition. Shaft mark "W M Park"
