A socket-head hickory shafted wood circa 1920, with a wooden face insert and horn sole insert. Marked R. Simpson - Robert Simpson was a legendary club maker based in Carnoustie who served as the professional at the links from 1891 until his death in 1923.
Hickory shaft with makers mark "R Simpson Carnoustie", straight and and fitted with a leather grip.

Grip - leather - good condition
Condition - Good, head has some slight cracking on the sole - shaft straight and whipping in good order.
