A vintage Right-Handed Hickory Shafted Mashie, stamped with the famous Pipe cleek mark, the hallmark of Tom Stewart of St Andrews, the most famous iron-head forger in history.
Dating from the early 1920s. It was retailed or produced by Hugh Roberts, a well-known PGA professional of that era. Hugh Roberts was the head professional at Stoke Poges Golf Club (now Stoke Park) in Buckinghamshire, England, between approximately 1910 and 1930. He was a successful competitor, playing in multiple Open Championships (1921, 1923, and 1925).
Shaft stamped with "H Roberts Selected"
The club head is heavily rusted, shaft in good condition, however the leather grip is incomplete and very loose.
